History
Agrimm Technologies was founded in 1984 by medical scientists David Gale and John Hunt, specialists in Immunology and the study of the human immune response. Their vision was to advance sustainable farming in New Zealand by applying innovations from medical research to create technologies for Agricultural Immunisation (Agr-Imm). Pioneering studies on the natural saprophytic fungus family Trichoderma revealed its beneficial bioactivity on plants, leading to the development and registration of a range of products incorporating multiple Trichoderma strains. These products have been proven to enhance crop health, disease resistance of plants, and overall quality and yield performance.
Early adopters reported positive crop results, leading to the growing popularity of this eco-friendly approach among progressive growers who prioritise quality, profitability and environmental benefits.

Agrimm Pty Ltd
In 2002 we set up a devoted Agrimm Pty business. Based around Melbourne, there was an initial focus on turf and the wider vegetable sector in Victoria and South Australia. The registration of Vinevax in Australia in 2004 helped add some authority to the Agrimm message, but more importantly, the evaluated trial results were compelling in the viticultural sector.
Agrimm continued to benefit from the geographical and crop connections between the two countries and forged strong trans-tasman connections. LettuceMate and OnionMate were two products that were able to be scaled by entering the Australian market – but not without their own challenges too.
Our First Product
Agrimm’s first product, the TrichoDowel, was registered in 1987 for the control of Silverleaf in Apple trees. After extensive Australasian field trials, use in grapevines for trunk disease was approved in the late 1990s. The dowel was also used alongside a liquid injection registered for the treatment of Armillaria in kiwifruit vines. During the same period, a pruning wound dressing called TrichoSeal was developed and marketed, all utilizing the same Trichoderma bio-active. To improve recognition and market positioning of these woody plant/vine applied products, Agrimm launched the Vinevax range in 2004.
